The State of California requires you to take 8 hours of security training when you apply for a Guard Card,  32 hours additional training within the first 6 months of getting your Guard Card, and 8 hours each year you have a Guard Card. The Bureau of Security Investigative Services is the CA government department that determines the security guard training course content outline.
